The 9-max NLHE tables on GGPoker have an ante the size of the SB. That means preflop there is an extra 3.5BB in the pot (the 7 players that are not in the blinds, times 0.5BB). I used to open 4BB, or +1BB for each limper in the past, but is this still a good sizing? There is probably a difference between NL2 and higher stakes, as I was betting smaller from UTG and stealing positions on higher stakes in the old SSS days on NL50 / NL100 years ago, but that is not relevant (for me) now.
With a standard 4BB open raise, the BB has much better pot odds: 3BB to call for a total pot of 9BB, instead of a total pot of 5.5BB without antes.
Should I open bigger generally speaking? Open or limp with a bigger range? Steal more often?
When it is folded to the SB the odds are so good, I wonder what ranges I should bet and/or call with. 0.5BB to call for a pot of 5BB are great odds.
For the record I'm relatively new to full ring BSS, having just moved up to NL5.
