Early stages of a live casino MTT and I have 90k in chips.
Blinds are 400/800 with a 800 ante posted by the Big Blind.
UTG with big VPIP just limps and LJ raises to 3000. LJ with a stack of 75k looks like a reasonable player, had seen him 3-bet with 88s at some point.
Hero on the BUTTON, I look down at KJo. It didn't feel good to just flat the raise but also to fold on the BUTTON with a good hand like KJ.
Considering that the LJ wouldn't have raised with a very tight range, I decided to take my chances and 3-bet to 11000.
Folded back to the LJ where he quickly calls.
FLOP (24800): 9♠: 6♣: 4♦:
I bet out 8000, LJ quickly calls it off.
TURN (32800) A♠:
Now I thought this could be a great hand to bluff if he was in with a marginal hand like a pocket pair or QT+ K9+.
I blast 25000, he thinks about it a little and shoves.
Obviously I fold.
I feel that I had to bet as value on the turn, but I am not sure about the small cbet on the flop.
If I hadn't cbet on the flop and waited to improve on the turn, would have looked quite weak in my opinion.
I think he either had a set on the flop or called my small bet with hands like AK-AQ and spiked the A♠: on the turn.
Any thoughts about this play? Thanks!
