The problem with this turn is that often, instead of scaring him, it gives him a flushdraw, if he has a holding like A♦ J♠ or A♥Q♦. So you will sometimes be called or semibluffed here from a worse hand. Nonetheless, bet/fold turn is the right thing to do.

Thanks. I thought about it afterward, while I was riding my bike around. It is a very double edged way to play, because of the reasons you suggest. Also, a very aggressive player may also bluff raise here with nothing at all, and I would still have to fold. Someone holding AA, AK or KK would possibly just call the flop raise in order to raise the turn, and if they held the A diamond, the turn would be no problem to them either. So would a better flop play here be check/fold, as calldown is really out of the question I think?

check/fold could be a bit too weak in my opinion.

Yes, that was my reasoning too. So, my c/r was to try and draw a 3 bet, which I could comfortably fold. After that, I have to play the turn b/f, and c/f the river UI as you suggest.

A donk on the flop could have been raised, or just called, and I have no initiative or extra information, and a c/c on the flop would have been just weak. So really, c/r or fold seemed the only options, and I liked this line.

I have thought about his possible holdings, and if I exclude any K or AA, then really he has to have folded TT or JJ or QQ, no diamond, if his 3 bet had any integrity. At this level, it may have had none at all, of course. He also may have had AJ or AQ suited, and the raise could have been for isolation. I am still thinking in terms of the SHC here.
