BB: 29,5/23,2/2,59/35,56/5926

2/4 Hold'em (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

Preflop: Hero is CO with Q♠, Q♥.
2 folds, Hero raises, 2 folds, BB calls.

Flop: (4.50 SB) A♣, 3♦, 6♦ (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, BB calls.

Turn: (3.25 BB) 2♣ (2 players)
BB checks, Hero checks.

River: (3.25 BB) A♦ (2 players)
BB bets, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 5.25 BB

After seeing this hand again I'm not sure if it was played optimal. As you can see villain is a TAG and I thought if I'm checking behind on the turn he will bet the river for sure, so I will get one BB for sure. I think the other possibility was to play it bet/fold on the turn. When I played the hand I thought if I'm behind on both ways I will lose one BB but if I'm ahead I will gain one BB with a check behind on the turn.
But I think I disregarded the protection if I'm ahead.

The problem with protection here is that villain is aggressive. He might checkraise you on the turn with a worse hand like a flushdraw, and you would have to fold to a checkraise in this spot. So the checkbehind is a good move here.
