0.50/1 Fixed-Limit Hold'em (10 handed)
Hand recorder used for this poker hand: Texas Grab'em by www.pokerstrategy.cc.

Preflop: Hero is UTG with J♣, Q♣
Hero calls, 6 folds, BU raises, 2 folds, Hero calls.

Flop: (5.50 SB) 7♣, 2♠, Q♦ (2 players)
Hero bets, BU raises, Hero calls.

I decide to bet my top pair, and get raised.
Turn: (4.75 BB) 3♥ (2 players)
Hero checks, BU bets, Hero calls.

Calldown, WA/WB I think.
River: (6.75 BB) 7♥ (2 players)
Hero checks, BU checks.

Given this result, was there another way to play the hand? No reads available. I can only think maybe c/c the flop, c/r the turn. But then, I would probably have to fold to a 3 bet.
Final Pot: 6.75 BB

and why decided you to bet the tp? ^^

better check/raise it and bet turn or calldown if he 3-bets.

if you donk they will make a raise nearly all the time with many Ax smaller pair etc.

He aciddrop didnt see a post from u for a long time.

I think i check-raised that Flop to. How have u been doing at the 0.5/1 tables btw?

c/r flop, cd vs 3-bet, b/cd turn, bet river

Well, thanks everybody. So, it looks like c/r is the standard move when you have tp HU? I should have known that, I will go back and reread that article. I was thinking play made hands aggressively OOP. But not against the preflop raiser obviously.

@ Wilm. I did have a little break, lost confidence for a while, and with personal pressures, (no job etc), didn't feel up to it. I'm back though. I posted a more detailed reply in another thread under Rookie discussion, but after losing for a while without playing badly, I have started winning without changing the style too much. I went from winning about 4% of the hands I was being dealt to winning about 8%, which makes all the difference in terms of ROI. I have won over 100BB at FR, which proves to me that I have no problem with the player strength at this level, so now I am going to start SH, as is strongly recommended by everyone, and see how that kicks me around.

I can see I am going to have to learn a lot more standard moves, but I am getting there.

Good for you dude. I cant wait to start playing SH to but it will take a while for me to get there. Im still at the .25/.50 with $200 but i have to make $300 real soon. I know i beat this limit.

Thanks buddy. You will beat the limit, no problems. I sucked the first time I went up to .25/.50 and lost 150BB. Leaking everywhere, was getting bad cards, but then must have tilted all over the place as well. I went back and could still smash .15/.30, so stayed there and won another 300BB, then went up again, and this time got the hang of it. There doesn't seem to be much difference, yet I still had that experience. Still, I waited until I had won at least 300BB at .25/.50 before I allowed myself to advance again. (EDIT: I made this my goal, and had to achieve it before I could let myself go up again). I have been taking a conservative approach to BRM. My transition to .50/1 has been a lot smoother. As I mention elsewhere, I lost at first, but didn't actually doubt my play, I really was getting bad cards and bad luck. The luck turned my way finally, as it has to, and this level (FR anyway) proves to be no harder than that one. Because of my conservatism, I now have the BR, so SH here I come! I will let you know.

I like it that you try to get 300BB on every limit before you go on.
This way you get confident that you beat it and that you have the skkill for it.

Try to go to 0.5/1$ SH with 500BB. In SH the variance is so huge it can knock you down very fast and moving down a limit is never bery motivating.

Since I was on 1/2$ SH (I hated 0.5/1$ and went to 1/2$ without beating 0.5/1$ but I beated 0.5/1$ FR and 1/2$ FR) I played 500BB on ever limit. It slows you down but the chance that you have to go down a limits gets minimized.

Thanks ciRith. I have 500BB now, because of that conservative approach. It is for the reason you mentioned, really knowing that I could beat the limit. I disliked having to go back from .25/.50, so don't want to repeat the experience if I can help it.

I will set myself the goal of 500BB at every level from now on for the same reason. SH is more volatile, and it is important for my confidence.
