oke, a rock raises a first in from early position. warning bell !
AA or KK could be the only cards he would raise with. with AK he would not raise because it is not a made hand.
lets asume he has KK, after the A Q flop he will make a bet to see where he is at to find out if hero has the AA, AK or QQ. if he gets called or raised he will try to play it cheap to the showdown or fold to a bet.
if rocky has AA he made an suberb play, checking the flop to show weakness or to lure a bet wich he would call.
betting only 250 the turn is again a trap. bet small in the hope he gets raised.
riverbet allin is then the right play, he has got the nuts.
while writing this , i found another scenario. stupid of me that i didnt think about it right away, i play it sometimes myself. he plays small pocket pairs.
preflop a raise of only 1,5 bet, not to expensive but, as i have written, a raise from a rock makes warning bells go of.
maybe he played 66.
he hits his set on the flop and looks for a way to get as much out of it as possible, checking the flop expecting a conti bet.
after the turn he can not slowplay anymore and makes a small bet in the hope to get called or raised. he only gets called so he thinks he has the best hand.
after the river an easy push
lets say he got deuces
after the flop he misses so he will check. suprisingly hero also checks. would hero have missed?
turn gives him his 2. a small weak bet in the hope hero will bluff raise or raises AQ AK KQ.
turn 5 is a blank for both, rocky will play his set and goes allin.
rocky has 55
flop comments are the same.
turn 2 looks like a blank. sneaky rocky is thinking (and cheaply betting to find out) that his 55 is the best hand.
river gives him his set. omg and a push.
with any other pocket pair he would never gone allin, not even with KK. it is still early in the tournement.
how i would have played this hand?
preflop i could have reraised the minraise to find out. i also could have called. i think i would have called.
since i sellsom slowplay my sets and because i lost the initiative, a bet of 450 is a nice play on the flop. when getting called or raised by rocky, then i will putt him on AA and fold to a bet on the turn or river.
