I really don't know. I'm a girl and I love it.
But then again I'm an only child and my Dad taught me card games that included draw poker and blackjack when I was a kid. If there had been an older brother there's a chance he would have taught my brother and I'd have been left to my Mom to teach me girl things. That's my best guess as to why there's less women in poker...most aren't ever introduced to it. Because it's so male dominated it is mostly guys that play and mostly guys that introduce other guys to it. How are girls ever supposed to get interested if they don't know anything except that there is a card game called poker? If you take a look at the thread I just created:

I mentioned I spent last night teaching my 17 year old cousin to play. SHE knew nothing when we started (not even hand rankings) and by the time we were done she understood the basics of hold em well and the concept of bankroll management. I spent a couple hours with her and every half hour or so I asked her if she was bored and/or wanted to do something else. She said no and was quite enthusiastic to keep going.
And along the line that guys teach guys poker...How many guys go out of their way to teach their girlfriends poker? I'm pretty sure they usually have something else in mind....Or how many try and teach their mother or sisters? They probably think why bother? A lot of guys probably still think women can't play poker or that it's a man's game or whatever and don't have any interest in teaching a girl to play.
I'm lucky my Dad taught me the basics as a kid and later I found my own drive to continue.
