Title is a little misleading, of course you can never guard against variance, it's going to happen for sure! However, can you get to a level where you play relatively high up so that the online sites bonus plans and benefits for your points accumulated can safe guard you against the times where you are losing by getting rakeback or whatever?

if any of that makes sense let me know your thoughts

Take a look at Opal99's blog in the blogs forum. Read through the last 5 or so pages. Maybe that might answer your question on bonuses/variance?
