[Closed] rakeback good or bad for the game

i don't agree.. cash game is the essence of poker ... the 4 of a kind story is a proof for something? or an example? for me it is just a very brutal bad beat (or cooler) but nothing else

if you make a lot of profit with tournaments and seem to lose with cash games, you might consider going back. otherwise you might need to learn some new stuff as cash games are very different from tournaments (there is a section about this difference in every second poker book, but especially great in Barry Greenstein's 'Ace on the river')

and if it is good for the game or not... i did not read anything about this yet and my own thoughts on this: probably should not change much, because a lot of players are not getting rakeback.... but it definitely makes a difference for those players who play with rakeback compared to the ones who don't (on the same site)

Yes i agree i should go and find out more about cash. At the moment i got no confidents in my game, getting beat so many time in the last month on the cash games is affecting my tournament play to, i suppose just will have to play through it. I had my biggest wins after a bad spell might happen again.

Still think the rakeback has something to do with it, I am sure it change the my poker play, and don’t think it got beter.

I don't think that rakeback should affect your play. Don't even think about it. It's a nice surprise every Friday, especially if you had a losing week and the rakeback gets you out of the red.

As far as Cash vs Tourneys you need to adjust your game. One thing to remember is that in a cash game there isn't the pressure of busting out. People are going to gamble more and there will be more bad beats. If guys are calling you with crap just be patient and get paid off when you've got a winner.

I tend to believe you play well in the push/fold stage of the tournaments if you say you don't like your cash games results. And if you play turbo's there you have it... you practically have to little time playing with a big stack.

And you need that time to be able to play BSS.

Anyway, i think you have the wrong perspective about rakeback. Esentially if you recieve rakeback you will give less money to the casino when you play. That's all. In other words, let it help you with your best game!

If you have 30% rakeback, in a SNG you'll boost your ROI with 30%, and in a cash game you'll boost your BB/100h also with 30%. (correct me if i'm wrong but it feels logical) And you play tournaments better than cash games.. Draw the conclusion!

Not quite that much for SnGs unless you are paying stupidly high rake. Usually it increases your ROI by ~2.5% depending on the rake. Eg. $10+1 SnG, 27% rakeback on the $1 is 27c. 0.27/11 = 0.0245 ~2.5%

Hi, I think the changing from tournament to cash really require time and material to get familiar. I myself feel difficult to change from cash to tournament.
