Push it. You dont like to see any :diamond:, he might have a flush but more often it will be only draw A or K in :diamond: or overpair. If not you have a lot outs to improve for boat so ship it and be happy about that. :)

ugly spot.

couse ur that deep i check flop for pot control. it looks like u have monster hand but it isn't that great and u have a very, very nice stack there and u dot want to blow it in this spot.

if turn came xD and is check to me i'll check it again, if BB bets I call bet (max pot size) and fold river bet if i don't impruve to boat.

if turn is blank and BB bets at me 2/3 pot i just call, and evaluete at river, if xD came on river and BB bets into u is tough decicsion (depends of bet size) if no d came on river and he bets into me i just call, if he checks river im beting 5/7 pot on river (i bet biger to look like busted flush draw)

if turn is blank no d and BB checks im beting 2/3 -5/7 (like 1250) pot on turn, if he shoves is very very tough - depends of turn card if turn card is Q,K,A i'll call shove couse he will very often shove there Top pair with flush draw, if turn card is J i might fold couse i dont see he is shoving Jx or flush draw in that spot, if 9 or T came on turn is nightmare couse he might shove 2 pairs, biger set, or floped flush

and BTW as played i give him this range xD Xd, Ad8, Kd8, 88, 77-99, maybe TT-JJ ( I think that he will reraise u preflop with this hands as he will reraise u with AQ AK bu it might have AK,AQ there with 1 d) and finaly AdX (X= 2,4,5,T,J)
AS PLAYED UR IN UGLY SPOT, IS FOLD OR SHOVE NEVER CALING HERE. I PREFER SHOVE

Thanks for the responses.

I don't have hand history with me now, but I actually reraised to something around 6000. I thought that this looks stronger and could make him fold weaker flush draws if he was thinking I was just cbeting. It should be obvious that I am commited and he should fold his bluffs. I didn't give him anything but made flush, bluff or flush draw.

So he pushed his made flush (9dTd or TdJd, I can't remember now) and I called. Turn and river were blank and I busted. Which was very sad, because it was $200 buy-in. X(

I wasn't even considering check behind. This is probably a mistake by me, because I like TheRebuz's line. If turn is a diamond I would probably lose this pot, which isn't that big after check behind. On non-diamond he has to bet his flush and some other made hands, and I would lose more, but maybe not my whole stack.

If I was against SB who has half of my stack, do you think that pot control line is also better?

Wow, sorry for my response. I was sure that you just coldcall preflop raiser. Forgot about my post there...

I dont like checking here for pot control (your hand is too strong, you want to play big pot) but i think his raise is pure bluff or monster (often MONSTER :(), i think never one diamond, he doesnt want to play big pot with his draw, he just call it and reeveluate the turn imo. So his raise is very ugly but you can call this IP. If he is not bluffing you give him stack anyway (of course when you dont hit you boat) but if he is bluffing you can earn more chips if he want to bluff you on the turn. Reb, what do you think about that?

This is ugly spot, but i bet/push here.

as i say before i like check behind line on flop for pot control with those stacks.
couse he will sure raise there with combo draws Ad3 Ad5, and with top pair big flush draw Kd8 Ad8, also 88 for sure as he can raise with over pair 99-JJ, maybe even if he plays AdK, AdQ or AKd AQd pasiv preflop he might raise on that flop so just with a flush draw he got something like 2% chances to hit on every out per street so with 9 outs for flush draw he got like 18% to hit turn and another 18% to hit river for total of 36% just for flush draw(with no pair) with range that i give him in previous post he got ~40% eq in that pot but if turn came blank he will have only ~20% eq to win.

any d on turn mind slow him down, if he had 8x and 8 came on turn i'll doble up so yea i like to check flop and see what hapens on turn.

about that he got monster or pure bluf i do no agree there, the range is not that polarized
imo he will take that line
pure bluf will be less then 10% of time, 9d9-JdJ ~10%,
semi blufs Kd8,Ad8,~40%
and made hands 88 xD xD ~40%

U have big hand but often is not good enough to win the pot, i like it but thats very ugly board and I want to see turn cheap in this spot.

vs SB i more likely to play it budzior way

i NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER check bhind this flop !!!!
NEVER EVER !!!!
what do you achieve with a check bhind ???
you dont get value from draws, you dont get value from bigger pairs you only make a chicken play because there are 3 diamonds on the flop !
that play sux.
so never check behind that flop !
because EVEN if he really flopped his flush (which is sooooo damn unlikely) you have so many outs to a FH that its not that bad.
so you should bet here 100% of the time ! no question. no other option.

check for pot control is really just bad here.... you flopped a set !!!
the chances he really got a flush is like 2% or lower....
thats like you dont bet a set because he might have a higher set.
nono.

after his raise it gets tricky. but still there are sooo many possibilities he might have.
A :diamond: x
K :diamond: x
pocket pairs with a :diamond:
a flush (really rare)
a higher pair without diamonds
some wired bluff

against ALL hands you are a solid favourite.
only against the rare flush you are an underdog with alot of outs.

so i`D reraise 80% of the times here. your equity against his range is good ! you have a set and the only hands that beat you are flushes (VERY RARE) and you have alot of outs against these hands.
the other 20% of the time i just call to shove the turn if no diamond hits or i hit my FH.
but im never ever folding on the flop. never ever ever ever ever ever ever.

I also think that checking behind is pointless.

Besides, maybe if the opponent is a thinking player he could put you on a very polarized range which mostly consists of pure air and the very less likely possibility you've got a very strong hand, so basically in my opinion you are obliged to put your money in the middle one way or another, unless he just calls and turn comes :diamond: , because his raising range is huge, as grummeler described it.

Greets!
