I'm just a beginner, and I'll be following the advice given in the Basic articles.
The article on playing on the flop seems to imply that you check/fold a pocket pair if there is an overcard in the flop. Am I interpreting this strategy correctly?
Example: I'm on the button with 88. The player UTG calls and everyone else in front of me folds. I call one bet, the BB checks and the SB folds. The flop is J-7-3 rainbow. Since the J is an overcard to my pocket pair, do I check/fold in this situation, or do I call one bet?
Thanks in advance for anyone who can help me out.
