okay, so this hand happened with 18 of us left in a 70dollar MTT. top spot was about 5k. I literally flipped out afterwards. I went nuts and ran up and the main road next to my house in the rain shouting expletives. Im aware that i tilt like a frickin seesaw and that was a prime example of how mad i can get - im working on it. I have yet to win make a final table in an MTT and i take it very personally everytime i get close and fail. anyway, i dont think i did anything completely retarded here, but nothing smart either. can You analyse this hand for me? My logic was to shove allin over a raise from behind. on the flop i was hoping to represent a bluff/weak overpair and get an overpair call. blahblahblah, im gonna stop yacking now. How would you have played it? how should i have played it?:

yea, its very bad u havent raised preflop. u have ~10bb left right? easy shove pre- that even looks most bluffy from BU spot and u re going to get call from lower pairs from limpers almost for sure.

Preflop is ok, but if you limp you have to accept that people will suck out on you sometimes. Flop play makes no sense, you give no opportunities for villains to make mistakes.

He is UTG.

Use this format for future references please.
I think that UTG you should push this, because some people consider UTG as a good stealing spot. Also, you got an M of less than 5, so people are not gonna give you too much credit for the raise anyway and you might end up getting a call (hopefully an isoraise) from JTo.
Also, the late phase of many tourneys is dominated by steal raises and resteal raises. You are destroying your table image bei limping first in with QQ, which might not be the best thing.
Better luck in the next tourney.
Cheers, Sebastian

what does the 'M' mean?

it is a concept of the relation of your stack size to the number of rounds you can play with it (SB+BB+number of antes per player on the table)

M is exactly the number of rounds you have until all your money is disappeared in blinds and antes

with an M of 10 you start to look for opportunities to get your money in
with an M of 5 in your case you urgently look for these spots and loosen up your raising/pushing ranges dramatically

so unfortunately you made quite a mistake in playing that hand... as pointed out previously you have good reason to raise preflop but also as played (called preflop, which i consider a rather big mistake already) you should treat your hand as way ahead/way behind, because the flop is pretty dry and the number of straight draws is limited and only backdoor flush draws are out there
and in way ahead/way behind situation you try to avoid increasing the pot size by your own betting/raising

oh ok. i think i understand the 'm' concept. Im so frustrated that i made that mistake at such a pivotal point. Like i said above, im still waiting to actually make a final table and to get so close and mess it up just sucks.

But today's a new day. I'm gonna keep sluggin' away.
