I've been rereading some articles and I stumbled onto this in article "How to play the turn and river" in basic section:
TURN:
If Nobody has bet yet and you don't have the initiative
You bet with ... a two-pair or better.
Is this true even for situation when a player with initiative is yet to act? or is just letting player with initiative make first bet implicit (and therefore attempt to check-raise)? 
it depends on a lot of factors.
This is not a definite answer but here are some things worth considering.
for example 3 handed:
villain-hero-villainwithinitiative
--> check/raise here. There's a good chance that the last one to act will CBet one more time. You can donk if you think he won't.
for example 5handed:
villain-hero-villain-villain-villainwithinitiative
--> I bet here cause I don't want to risk that the turn gets checked around. Also it will be very nice if villainwithinitiative raises here because everybody will pay 2 bets.
for example 5handed:
villain-villain-villain-hero-villainwithinitiative
--> I guess in most spots I will bet for the same reasons as above. Certainly bet i fthe board is drawheavy. If villainwithinitiatve raises in this case he's actually protecting your hand cause his raise will knock some of the other players out. And you can also 3bet him then
