Since this is post number 1,000 for me I thought I should write something about me. ♦ I chose to translate my report from the Las Vegas trip I made in June. I already posted this report in the German forum but here it is for you:
On the first of June I flew from New Jersey (where I graduated) to Las Vegas. I wanted to participate in the event #3 of the World Series of Poker (No Limit Hold'em tournament with a buy-in of $1,500). But before I could do that I had to register for the tournament. It took 4 and a half hours until I finally got my ticket. The printers of the Rio didn't work the way they should.
The tournament itself started one hour later because there were so many people who wanted to register. At the end there were ~2,900 participants. I sat down at my table and a few minutes later Greg Raymer (World Champion of 2004) sat down at the table next to my table. He seems to be a nice guy because he talked a lot with the players and was very friendly. And he isn't as fat as on TV 
At my table I had some interesting people: one Afghanistan veteran, an old man who told stories from the second world war, an unemployed man who got his buy-in from a jackpot of a slot machine, two students from Dallas, etc. All in all a very interesting table and not very hard to play. We started with 3000 chips and the first blind level was 25/50. After one hour the blinds went up to 50/100 and another hour later to 100/200.
The first two blind levels I was completely carddead. The only hands I got were AK on the Button and AK in the Cutoff. Both times I raised 4 times the big blind, got 3 callers and didn't hit the flop meaning that I had to fold. I kept folding my hands, even blind stealing was impossible. After two hours I came to a new table and found TT on the Button. After one limper I pushed my last 1700 chips all-in. The big blind called with AJs in :spade:. The flop was 6 
2♥ 9 and my opponent had lots of outs (in this moment he is a 55-45 favourite) but my tens hold up and I doubled up. Half orbit later I found JJ in middle position. I raised to 700 (blinds 100/200), the guy to my left calls and a shortstack moves all-in with his last 800 chips. Me and my neighbour called and we saw a flop: J T 
6 Yes! I put 1200 into the pot and my neighbour pushed all-in. I obviously called. The shortstack turned over KK, my neighbour TT and I turned over my JJ. Set over set! But unfortunately that wasn't the end. On the turn a harmless 2 
appeared but the river brought the last T which was in the deck and I was out of the tournament.
It felt really bad to get knocked out by an 1 outer, but as you all know: that's poker!
At least the cashgames in Las Vegas were nice and I could win my travel costs back. All in all it was a great trip and it definitely was not my last trip to Las Vegas.
