We don't really want poker as a regonised sport.... Because when that happens is when we will have to start paying taxes on our winnings....
Like footballers, rugby players etc... Funny this should come up, we are having this discussion elsewhere but due to forum rules I can't tell you where, it's very in depth there also

That'll never happen. To tax your winnings they have to let you claim your losses back against your tax so imagine all the money the IR would lose paying back all the losing players!
Not completely true... They could work it the same way as they do in the US. But I hope you are right
