you have to call 1100 to win 1600~ so you have to be ahead MORE than half of the time in order to make a +cEV call. and because you are far from the bubble and its still low blinds you have to be right even more than that (this is called ICM tax)

some reads on the opponent would really help. this is a strange thing to do with a flush, but he could be doing it with a baby flush, who knows what hes doing lol.

im going to fold this one on river, we still have a healthy stack and i think he has a flush often enough to make this unprofitable.

in these games we will find very good pushes in late game to be able to make marginal folds like this early game.

This is a $1 game though.. He can be doing this with so many Ax and even 2 pairs a badly played set...

The turn looks like an A high hand he could be calling with and when it hit on the river he shoves for value.

the main problem here 897 is that we have to call a 2x pot sized bet and be right a huge % of the time for this to be good in the long run.

yep, its a $1 game. so we have a huge edge end game. why take marginal risks early for a minimal equity advantage?

This isn't right. The best way to do pot odds in this spot is to look at it like this. Villain bets 1100 into 600, if I call pot is going to be 2800. So I need to be correct 1100/2800 in order to make a +cEV call. Or 39.29% of the time. Unless you're calling for a chop, the percentage should never drop below 50% (try it out with a 1000x overbet on the river).

I'd fold against reasonable opponents because we have a bluffcatcher when he takes this line. However I think I crycall at the 1$ SNGs just because fish always show up with something you don't expect in this spot. So I tend towards going by absolute hand strength more often (we has a straight).
