Someone hacked mine and transfered 1400$ to a pokerstars account. and now i've just found out that my password to towergaming isn't valid. this is shaping up to be one fucking hell of a day

Must be an american. I am not surprised, if the hacker genuinely did think that he can not be traced. ♦
I'd say that he hacked your computer and got the passwords from there , not directly from the poker platform or Moneybookers.

Yea, scan your computer and change your passwords ASAP. There shouldn't be too much problems w getting money back from pokerstars. Was tower and moneybookers accounts on same email?

yes so i obv changed my PW and scanning my comp atm. also contacted tower, ps and moneybookers atm. luckily i didn't have more than 2500$ on the sites combined.
Still i have no clue how the hacker got the password to my mail, which must have been how he got the other passwords ♠
I have heard stories, that MBs accounts have hacked. I think also that hacking directly MB is pretty impossible. I´d reccomend to look your mailbox. I assume you had there mails with passwords to sites - easy way to get all your passwords once they get your email password.
Try talking to MB, maybe they can get your money back. Also with pokerstars.
Hope you resolve this. I usually change my MB password once in awhile, even if I don't have any money on it sometimes. It just makes sense, for security reasons. Or maybe I'm just paranoid 
One more thing... In another thread someone said you don't need security on your computer. I guess stuff like this proves him wrong. It's always better to be safe than sorry (anywhere).

Maybe through easy password recovery question or smth. Get a different mail for all your poker/financial accounts and never share it.
The cunt is most likely the owner of the pokerstars account where the money was transfered. Not really hard to catch it.
LOL i talked to a live support person from towergaming who said my neteller account had deposited 2500$ into my towergaming account. (i haven't used neteller for a long time) and sure enough... my neteller account was locked when i tried logging in

i'm sorry to hear that, but it seems everything will be sorted soon; hopefully...
just something I'd like to add to the previous advices:
1. delete all emails from poker sites / MB / Neteller. They often mention your nickname/username and some of welcome email even passwords..
2. if you feel you need to save some of them for whatever reason, download them and burn on dvd (do it at least once a week)..
3. create different recovery questions on every site. Make something that doesnt make any sense and let the answers to be generated by some software. Write them down on piece of paper or burn on another DVD and keep it somewhere outside your appartment (parent's house is good option, bank safe is probably the best but not for free) - dont make it too obvious (like naming disc as "poker passwords" or something stupid like that <- I saw such CD few years ago ^^)
4. use RSA where possible obv

it's too late for me to think about anything else. I know all those advices are quite obvious and may seem to be a bit on paranoid side, but all make sense.
oh btw: MB security standards are higher than internet banking of average european bank, so I dont think it was MB account which was hacked... it seems like you had too much info in your email.

All solid advice.
Also avoid using hotmail or such things for your poker accounts. Usually your ISP has a very secure email
system. Create accounts xxx@yourisp.com but do not make the account name the same as your screen
names. You can just make a new email with your isp for every poker account and noone will have any
access to them or even know they exsist except the poker site you register for with it.
Like Opal said with naming the cd passwords this is the same for your email accounts you create.
Do not make them anything to do with the pokersite like ihufastars.yourisp.com or anything like that.
You can even just generate random numbers and letters for your email addresses.
Most ISPs allow like 10 emails or something.
Your password was never changed which leads me to believe that he didn't use the password reset form because that would of changed the password.
1. Your network has been compromised
2. Your computer has been compromised (keylogger most likely)
3. Your email was bruteforced (most unlikely because Hotmail should have prevention methods in place to stop multiple logins from one location)
Either way there was probably a weak anomaly in your account / computer. I recommend that you follow the guide below to create a secure computer. Making sure you have a separate email which you do not give to ANYONE under any circumstances. If you follow the guide and use Keepass make sure you backup it frequently just in case your computer crashes.
