I hold a pair of Jacks in the SB. UTG2 call the BB, it's folded to me and I raise to 60c (a BB more than usual), and UTG2 calls back.

The flop is not good for me, with two overcards.
Where should I put the villain, based on his preflop actions? Mid-pair maybe???

I decide to c-bet 80c (approx 2/3 pot), and he re-raises to 1.6.

Where should I reposition the villain? What should I do?

Hero bets $0.80, UTG2 raises to $1.60

Hey tomahawkpt,

you need to keep the stack sizes in mind when you play, so if you decide to raise 5+1 BB preflop then you oblige yourself to shove any flop with only potsize left on the flop. On the other side if you want to keep your options open, then just raise standard 4+1 preflop and you will still be able to play bet/fold on the flop due to pot:stack ratio.

I personally don't like adding 1 BB for playing OOP, but doing so isn't wrong and makes it easier to play because then you just shove the flop.

Thanks for your judgment. I'll do my best to follow the 4bb+1 per caller raising rule.

Below is the rest of the handplay after the flop.

I could not really position the villain in any hands... a low Ace, maybe??... I called is bet anyway (50c all-in) to check for a bluff...

What I know is that I have a hard time letting go of my hands

Flop: ($1.3) A:c, Q:h, 5:c (2 players)
Hero bets $0.80, UTG2 raises to $1.60, Hero calls $0.50.

Turn: ($4.2) K:h (2 players)

River: ($4.2) A:d (2 players)

Final Pot: $4.2.
Results follow:

Hero shows two pairs, aces and jacks(J:s J:c).
UTG2 shows two pairs, aces and kings(Q:c K:s).

UTG2 wins with two pairs, aces and kings(Q:c K:s).
