Howdie,
I came across this term in Tournaments with several tables a few times now when the final table drew near. "Players are now playing hand for hand" or something along that line.
What does that mean exactly?

It's means that the next hand will be dealt when all hands on all the other hands have finished. No-one can profit from winding down the clock while playing hand for hand.
If two or more players disqualify at the same time while playing hand-for-hand. The player who had the smallest stack bubbles.
