Hi helemaalnicks!
I would fold after his check/raise. You don't know how good your hand is and if you call, you have to expect large bets on turn and river. I doubt that your overpair is good enough. There was no raise preflop which means he can easily have hit the board. Just fold and wait for a better spot.

if you were late position would've suggested minraising or 2.5xBB raising just to keep the blinds from having a freeplay.
but in early/middle with that hand you really can't do that and folding after a check/raise seems the right thing to do.
That said I would still put him on TP medium kicker but the chance that he's hit the nut straight or the straight on the turn is too big.
