was i right to slow play since his stack is short ? or should i just ship it on the flop since he donk into me , he probably has something strong enough to call ?

Of course you were right there is possibility that he's bluffing (could donk/fold flop) but will 2nd barrel turn if you just call you want to commit him to the pot since he has very weak range and you have nuts. I am not judge but I would play the same;).

since you´re ip and he would very likely shove at any turn card I´d also just call on that dry flop and also call any turn card (or if he bets like half the pot then shove since I doubt he is b/f there)
