As the system stands, once you maintain silver you have to keep it by getting 100 strategypoints every so often (not sure on the time frame, I forgot).
It makes me wonder how people can maintain platinum.

Your status is based on the best 28 day run you had in the last 42 days, as detailed here (under "How long does your status last?"):

So as silphonica notes you need to maintain the minimum points required for each status over that time. As you move through the limits you will find that earning sufficient strategy points for each status becomes easier.. there are also promotions from time to time that unlock higher level content or that boosts the strategy point earn rate for the pokerroom you have linked to PokerStrategy. Look out for these in the daily news section.
