Looking for internet connection - NEED HELP

Hi guys,

I need some help. I have to decide which internet connection should I choose. Can recommend sth?
It doesnt have to be fast. I just need it to play poker. The only condition is one year contract.
Im living in Milan.

probably the best way is a mobile connection,something like http://eshop.vodafone.it/vodafone-special
You can visit the sites of the others major company(tim,3,wind) for similar offers and choose the best for you(for example http://www.tim.it/internet/Internet-Start ).
Alternatively you can look for some local provider that offers a wireless of wimax connection.

How to find it?

I was thinking more about stable internet connection from fastweb or sth like this. Do you know If any of them offer 1year contract?

With fastweb you don't have any minimum duration of the contract(and i think its the same for the others providers),but the termination have a cost http://www.fastweb.it/adsl-aziende/domande-e-risposte/fisso/ (80 euro's ouch!).
You need to visiting all websites of major companies and verify how much cost the termination.

First thing: every provider offering an ADSL internet connection lets you pay when you decide to deactivate your connection. The costs may vary, but normally they are between 50 and 90 euro.

The most common providers are Alice, Fastweb, Tiscali and Infostrada.

Alice (Telecom Italia): I don't reccomend it to you, because it's the most expensive provider. Anyway it offers a very good connection quality. Don't know the other contract conditions.

Fastweb: very good service (I have a contract with them). Possibility to choose between services including phone calls and others with only internet. No minimum contract duration, but if you back out of the contract before 24 months you have to pay even the activation costs (120 euro) in addition to the deactivation costs.

Tiscali: good offers, but only if you stay with them at least for 24 months. If you back out of the contract before, then you have to pay, in addition to the deactivation costs, every discount they have given to you (e.g. you paid 30 euro/month instead of the full price of 42 euro. You decide to back out after 12 months. You have to pay the deactivation costs plus 12x12=144 euro).

Infostrada: should offer a good service too and it seems that there is no minimum contract duration. Obviously when you back out of the contract you have to pay the deactivation costs, but no additional costs.

the problem with ADSL you need to pay the installation (a technician has to wire your house to the phone network) and it's a huge cost for just one year imho. I suggest you to consider the option of buying an internet key and finding the mobile offer that fits you best (how much do you play poker? Are 100hours months enough for you? How about 15GB? ). UMTS/HDSPA connection are slower but even cheaper if you find the right one. If you need some more help just tell..

As I wrote, infostrada ADSL hasn't activation costs (or, more exactly: the activation costs for a new line are about 20 euro. Not huge)

Btw I think there is a cost to install a new phone line (which is required for ADSL) but I might be wrong. Do you already have a home phone?

No, se vai a vedere le offerte c'è scritto che se chiedi la portabilità (quindi hai già una linea) costa 10 euro. Se devi attivare ex novo una linea costa 20 euro.

No, if you already have a line (with another provider), the activation costs 10 euro. If you have no line (and so you need to activate a new one), it costs 20 euro.

I think the best option is to contact the company hoping that someone in there speaks english
