Jesse Lonis wins Global Online Poker Championship High Roller

One of the winningest players in recent years on the high-roller circuit has proven he can do the same thing online. Jesse Lonis has just taken down one of the first High Roller events from the CoinPoker Global Online Poker Championship. 

He defeated a field of 83 players in the $5,000 event for $153,000. The field included Seth Davies, Bencb, Patrick Leonard, PapoMC and online cash star "DavyJones".

Yesterday was the start of the GOPC, a month-long online poker series that runs alongside major festivals like the GGPoker bracelet series and the World Championship of Online Poker. The series has $50 million guaranteed across 700 events, each of which awards a gold medal to the victor.

For Lonis, that medal will be one of many to adorn his trophy cabinet. He has been one of the most successful young players on the nosebleed circuit for the last few years. 

In less than a decade, he has racked up almost $33 million in live tournament cashes. He has been prolific on the High Roller scene and last year won eight titles, which was enough to secure him the CardPlayer Player of the Year award. 

But he also has online acumen. Of his two World Series of Poker bracelets, his first one actually came in an online event in 2022. So while we're not used to seeing him at the online felt, this week's victory is by no means a surprise.
