How to start poker on the right track
In part two of our new beginner strategy we'll make sure that you start your journey towards becoming a winning player in the right direction.
In December KTU introduced our innovative new beginner strategy. It consists of individual videos, each focusing on single hole card combinations.
In contrast to previous strategies, you won't just get general rules to follow. Instead you will receive specific strategic tips as well as an explanation on why this advice is important.
The road to becoming a long-term winning player
A journey consists of many steps and always starts with the first one. The road to becoming a winning player is a tough and long endeavour. People who slip up on the first steps of their journey often give up right away, cancelling goals.
However, the basic principle still is: "Games are learnt by playing them!" Thinking about the game you would like to learn is just as important as experimenting and trying out different approaches. In poker, however, that often results in heavy costs. Mistakes will always lead to losing money; and if you're playing at a too high limit, errors will cost you dearly.
An established method to counter that is learning a static ABC strategy by heart without developing a deep understanding of poker. Such an approach might protect you from committing big mistakes, but it will also lead to less fun when playing and it will make it harder to develop your game. If you don't know how things really work, it's tough to build on that.
This is the point where our new beginner strategy comes into play. Step-by-step you will learn how to play individual hands, always topped off with the ideas and facts on which the strategy is built in order to enable you to deviate from a too static approach at the table whenever you feel it's necessary.
