From Paris with love

It's Saturday Coffee time again and today we go to a French cafétéria with our classy French moderator - MeloNelson.

Poker Clip - "Poker Man"

A song from a PokerStrategy.com fan! Canadian singer & poker player - Dean Shaw contacted us, and we couldn't say no to this nice folk poker song!

I can't stop pressing the Play button, and what do you think about this song?

Wake up! - Poker Fold-equity Course

As usual - time to wake up your brain! Did you know that we have a special course which can be a part of your warm-up routine before weekend grinding sessions?

Day 1

MeloNelson - French PokerStrategy.com Moderator

MeloNelson - could you imagine more Parisian girl?

PokerStrategy.com: When did you start to play poker?

MeloNelson: I've played poker for almost five years. I learnt all the rules and basic strategies here at PokerStrategy.com.

PokerStrategy.com: Where do you live?

MeloNelson: I live in the most beautiful city in the world - in Paris! My apartment is not so far from the Eiffel Tower and the Cercle Clichy poker club. I just mention that (Cercle Clichy) for reference as I prefer to play online and I never go to it.

"I love watching Diamond videos"

working online
Our moderator's workplace

PokerStrategy.com: You are a member of the PokerStrategy.com staff. What are your duties in the team?

MeloNelson: I've been a moderator on our poker forum for a while. I had an offer to join the moderator team and I didn't hesitate! At that time I was wanting to watch some new poker videos and moderators have Diamond status, so the decision was easy.

I work from home and most of the time I am not far away from the keyboard, so this activity is perfectly compatible with my work. I can check the forum very regularly.

PokerStrategy.com: I know that you love our poker community (as we all do here). What is your favourite moderator duty?

MeloNelson: I like to welcome on the forum new players and help them as much as possible! Also I love contact with PokerStrategy.com team colleagues on Skype .

NL2 sick graph
MeloNelson's NL2 graph.

PokerStrategy.com: You are not only helping other users but you also play poker. Your graph is sickly impressive! But so far it is only for NL2 stakes. Why?

MeloNelson: Me and NL2 - it's a long story! I already have a job which is very +$EV. I always try to work on my game and improve it, but poker is for me just an activity for relaxing. Thanks to poker I can chill and I have a little fun during the work breaks.

I multitable and multiroom

PokerStrategy.com: You have played three million hands, so I guess that you are usually multitabling. How many tables do you usually play?

{communitylink=MeloNelson+level}: 12 tables is my standard, 15-16 I play when the traffic is good. But I not only multitable, but also 'multiroom' too - I play on a few different poker rooms from our offer at the same time

PokerStrategy.com: Did you play higher? If so, why not do it more often?

MeloNelson: Yes, I played at higher stakes. I climbed the limits NL4, NL10, NL20. But then I had a mindset breakdown. So I went back to NL2. Still, this game gives me so much fun. Maybe there isn't as much glory at those stakes, but I enjoy it. I always try to maximise my NL2 winrate, that's my goal.

I've also played NL100 live games in Las Vegas. I played those for two weeks, 10 hours a day. That was NL100, but I played without worries, cause I used money from my recreational budget and the games were as easy as NL2 online. Unfortunately I had a few ugly bad beats, but still I finished break even eventually. That was a cool experience.

PokerStrategy.com: What are your poker goals and dreams, besides pushing the NL2 winrate to the max?

MeloNelsonMy goals and dreams? At poker? Well, improve my winrate. 😀 In life, I have everything I need, I don't need anything except... of course I'd like to have a boyfriend (durable and valuable) that's all .

PokerStrategy.com: Thanks very much and good luck on and off the tables!
