When to shove 30 big blinds

It's the hardest stack depth to play in tournaments, so when should you get your money in right away with 30 bigs?

The hardest stack depth to play is also the most important to study - 30 big blinds.

You will find yourself with this stack depth often in tournaments, and most players make a mess of it.

When you have 10bbs or less you are looking for spots to get all-in with them.

When you have 10-20bbs you are looking for spots to shove over raises.

At 30bbs it is not clear cut whether you should be aggressive or play to preserve chips.

Hate 3-bet/calling, really hates 3-bet/folding

Most players bleed chips in these spots; they will set mine too much, for example, then find themselves having to fold the flop, over and over, until they become a short stack.

Often, you have to tighten up with 30bbs, but there are spots where you want to shove 30bbs.

A classic spot is when a loose player opens in late position and you have a small pocket pair. That is a great spot to shove 30bbs because they will have to fold a lot.

Solvers pick a variety of hands to rip it in with 30bbs, but they tend to be either low pocket pairs, broadway suited connectors like QJs and JTs, and some of the medium strength Ace-x.

My advice is if you have a hand that does not like to 3-bet/call, but hates to 3-bet/fold, that's a good candidate to shove 30bbs over a raise.
