BotD Season 3: Week 1 Results

A total of 53 players from our Community (breaking the previous record of 31) participated on Sunday within the 8 regular teams and a community team.

It didn't take very long for the action to kick off either: nrgblaze managed to double his stack shortly after the start when his pocket nines on the button became top set on the flop and further improving to a full house on the river, overkill, we love it!.
bkbart was amongst those less fortunate, his AK losing to AQ courtesy of Queens on the turn and river.
And two of the most experienced teams, Team SoyCD & MOD Squad had also lost players by the first break, but plenty of quality remained of course.

As the second and subsequent breaks came and went, so the numbers slowly dwindled.
erptech was the last Team Judgernaut player in, eventually falling at 2,225th.
Team Sweden's hopes were next to go with mofasa86 finishing just outside the top 1,000 and only 70 short of the money. Mofasa86 was however the best BOTD debutant on the night, 11th from our community and 1,060 overall, congrats on a good run!. batmanbg was one of 3 New Team Anyone? members still in and got even closer to the money, but finished just 23 away.

When the bubble did burst, 9 Community members were left in, 2 each from New Team Anyone?, Donkey Patrol and  Team GGnoRE with 1 each from We minraize you!, Team SoyCD and MOD Squad.
justkyle88, vtomukas, 1seednoir1, andyb43, rhinoneil & kimber88 all picked up $10.15, whilst luborc secured $20.30.
This left us with grimzor and amirpuato battling for medals and most importantly to beat the Spanish Community.
News had started to filter between the Communities, the Spanish still had 3 players left in. Chat boxes were now buzzing with Spanish and despite his best efforts, even 1seednoir1 (what a legend!) seemed outnumbered in the banter stakes.

grimzor finally fell in 158th, collecting $37.23 in the process.

amirapuato was therefore the last English Community member standing and continued to battle on, carrying the hopes of the whole community until eventually his from the small blind came up against .
Flop came , no help, on the turn took away the possible backdoor flush but added a straight possibility. Sadly, the on the river ended Amirapuato's great run in 87th place with a $47.38 payout.

And now for a few words about the Spanish Community..... "they did ok". That's it, a few words!.
No seriously, for anyone really interested in what happened at the end, pirobin(musicaces) finished in 112th place, elziscador impressed with 33rd spot and jesusitonsky managed to outlast everyone and arranged a deal at the start of heads-up play. Whilst initially it seemed he got a raw deal suggesting a $3,600 / $3,499.65 split whilst holding 60% of the chips, both players were unsurprisingly tired after the 9 & 1/4 hour tournament and a deal was done.

Congratulations to everyone who took part, in particular those that cashed or took part in their first BOTD.

Our grateful thanks too to soycd, vhallee & all the admin team for putting on such a fantastic competition for us. Soy will be appearing on the Spanish radio during the next tournament, so let's give him something to really talk about!

Overall, the Spanish Community is in the lead with 72 points, while the English Community has 48 points.

We Minraize You picked up 3 medals and are currently 2nd overall with 24 points, New Team Anyone? picked up 1 medal and are 5th with 12 points, GGnoRE also picked up 1 medal and are are 7th with 6 points, Team SoyCD & Donkey Patrol both collected 1 medal and are joint 8th with 3 points, Our remaining teams are yet to score, however it can all change in next week's Private tournament where we go head to head against the Spanish!
