The World Series of Poker starts today
We have everything you need to know about following the big one this summer, which begins this evening.
Has it really been a year? Yes the World Cup, Olympics, SuperBowl and Eurovision of this great game, the World Series of Poker, gets underway today at the Rio in Las Vegas.
Six weeks and 69 bracelet events begin today with the $565 Casino Employees Event and the $10,000 Super Turbo Bounty.
The most notable change this year is that 13 bracelet events take place after the Main Event, rather than that being the culmination of the series. This includes a $1,500 event called 'The Closer' with a $1 million guarantee and the final event in the series is the returning $1 million buy-in Big One for One Drop.
New additions to the schedule include:
- $10,000 Super Turbo Bounty No Limit Hold’em
- $100,000 High Roller No Limit Hold’em
- $365 PLO GIANT
- $1,000 DOUBLE STACK No Limit Hold’em
- $565 WSOP.com ONLINE Pot Limit Omaha 6-Handed
- $1,500 BOUNTY Pot Limit Omaha
- $50,000 High Roller No Limit Hold’em

How to follow the series
This year the World Series of Poker is going to be predominantly covered in-house at the WSOP's own website.
