Timoshenko Wins The APT Macau
Russian Yevgeniy Timoshenko secured rank 1 at the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Macau and thus $500,000. The Best German was PokerStrategist Moritz 'trader' Schmejkal at rank 13.
257 people had signed up for the biggest poker tournament on Asian territory ever and paid the buy-in of $5,000. The guaranteed prize pool of $1.5M thus remained unchanged. 40 places were paid out.
Many Pros in the Field
Amongst the participants were some familiar faces, such as the winner of the APT Manila David Saab, November Nine David
Rheem, EPT Dortmund winner Michael 'Timex' McDonald, JJ Liu, Johnny
Chan, Huck Seed, John Juanda as well as Doyle and Todd Brunson. However, they all had to join the rails early.
Germans with a good Result
A better performance was delivered by coach Moritz '
trader'
Schmejkal. With rank 13 and $18,750, he finished as the best German player in the tournament. His fellow countryman Alexander Jung also had a nice finish with rank 25 and thus $8,250.
Yevgeniy Timoshenko dominates the Final Table
The young Russian Yevgeniy Timoshenko won the tourney, dominating the final table almost at his leisure. He already held over half of all the chips in play when his closest pursuer barely had a quarter of his stack. The most prominent opponent at the final table was Casey Kastle. He also had to submit though when he was short stacked and pushed all-in with pocket tens, and Timoshenko hit a king.
Timoshenko also went into the heads-up as the clear chip leader against Joon Hee
Yeah, who gave it his best shot and even managed to double up once. However, in the end, he had no chance against the overwhelming chip lead. In the decisive hand, Joon Hee Yeah pushed his remaining chips into the middle of the table with K-Q. Timoshenko called with queens, sealed the deal and secured $500,000 for rank 1.
