A brief chat with Kevin Hart

Barry Carter managed to get a couple of minutes with A-Lister comedian and PokerStars ambassador Kevin Hart to talk about Super High Rollers.

Have you ever played private games with your fellow stand-ups?

Kevin Hart: I’ve yet to play with any of them, but I’m willing to bet that they would all suck.

In poker you can do everything right and still lose, in stand-up you can do your best material and still bomb - does stand-up prepare you for poker in that respect?

Kevin Hart: Stand-up definitely does not prepare me for poker in that respect. All stand-up does is allow me to have a personality at the table.

You are one of the only celebrities who plays in the really tough Super High Rollers, is that a mentality from your stand-up experience, i.e., you learn more by playing the toughest rooms?

Kevin Hart: I don’t know how to do anything half way... so if I’m going to play... if I’m going to participate, I want to give myself the best chance to win... And when you can rub elbows with the best, it only makes you better. So I love to mix it up with those guys.

Are Super High Rollers just fun for you, or is it all about playing the best and getting better yourself?

Kevin Hart: Super High Rollers are more than fun. It’s all about playing with the best and literally trying to see where I fit. Where I stand.

Professional poker players are not always the most social at the table, or at least they are really focussed, are they harder to make laugh than your usual audiences?

Kevin Hart: No professional poker players are actually easier they just don’t have the personality. So they don’t know that they’re laughing when they’re laughing.

If you want to play against Kevin Hart next year at the PCA, there is a huge overlay expected in Sunday's 100-seat ultra-satellite at PokerStars. Last month the satellite had an overlay of over $500,000.
