Dominik Nitsche wins €111,111 One Drop bracelet

Another day, another young German pro winning another seven-figure score at the WSOPE.

All the plaudits tend to go to Fedor Holz when we think of young German players who have lit up the poker world, but do not forget about Dominik Nitsche. Not only has the 27-year-old won titles all over the globe, he has just secured his fourth WSOP bracelet.

His previous bracelets were in $1,000-$10,000 events, so the €111,111 One Drop High Roller was a different ask, pitting him against 88 of the best players in the world (which included 44 re-entries) and a final table that included recent Poker Masters High Roller King Steffen Sontheimer and prolific nosebleed players Christoph Vogelsang and Thomas Mühlöcker.

His €3,487,463 haul in this event is his biggest career score, taking his live career earnings to $11,357,338. Impressive by any measure, but it only puts him 4th on the German All Time Money Rankings.

Given his young age and four bracelets, he is arguably the best long-term contender for Phil Hellmuth's crown, but the man himself was much more humble in his post match interview, saying: "It's really nice, it's not about the bracelets for me it's about how well I played. Im more proud of how I played rather than I won."

This was the first open One Drop High Roller to be held in Europe and more than $1.2 million was raised for the charity in this event, bringing poker's overall contribution to the cause to over $22 million. 

All eyes are now on the €10,350 Main Event which starts Day 2 today. The format is, for the first time, a re-entry meaning eliminations can buy in again today for one last shot at glory.
