Tony G launches a series of NFT collectible cards
Buy a rare 'Ace from Space' non-fungible token from the poker legend this weekend, or just scratch your head at what the hell an NFT is.
If you are familiar with the crypto space you are probably sick of hearing about NFTs, if you are new to it this may be the first time you are hearing about them, but it looks like they are hear to stay so buckle in.
A non-fungible token (NFT) is a digital item that can not be replicated. While you could copy an MP3 or a JPEG as many times as you want, if a song or picture was an NFT you could not. NFTs are currently making headlines because for the first time pieces of unique digital art are selling for huge sums because they have rarity which has been unheard of previously in the digital space. Beyond expensive pieces of art NFTs represent an opportunity for creators to mass sell products like albums without them being pirated.
Because NFTs are still in their infancy there is a bit of a bubble right now with things like minted tweets selling for thousands and some pieces of digital artwork selling for millions.
Step forward poker player, former politician and now crypto expert Tony G, who is selling NFT trading cards of some of his most famous catchphrases. Including 'Ace from Space; 'On Your Bike' and 'I Played It Like a Set'.
To buy them you need to purchase them with Lympo tokens, which will be available later on today. The NFTs will sell at auction afterwards. As with anything in the crypto space, the actual market value of the Lympo currency itself is hard to assess before you even consider the value of the actual NFTs.
Whether this has piqued your interest or you think it is nonsense, it is probably worth checking out how the auction goes because it appears that NFTs, in some form or other, are going to be a part of digital commerce in the future.
