$2,417,000 overlay in the WPT World Championship
The second biggest overlay in poker history but the WPT still attract 3,835 players to their Championship event at the Wynn.
It has been a landmark month for beating overlays and commanding record fields, but the World Poker Tour Championship just fell short of the $40 million guarantee.
3,835 players is a record, but it wasn't enough to avoid a $2,417,000 overlay. Great value for the players, but a shame for an event that has so much goodwill towards it.
That makes it the second-largest overlay in poker history, just behind the $2.5 million overlay from the Seminole Hard Rock Open in 2014.
This is how the field formed:
- Day 1A: 609 entries
- Day 1B: 730 entries
- Day 1C: 973 entries
- Day 1D: 1,523 entries
480 players will make the money with an $18,700 mincash, the eventual winner taking down just under $6 million. This is what the final nine will get:
