WSOP Adds Dream Team Poker Event

"After seeing the terrific response to the recent Dream Team Poker tournaments in Las Vegas, we thought a team-based event would be a fun addition to the end of the WSOP," said Jeffrey Pollack, WSOP commissioner.

Team poker has sets its sights on continued expansion as popularity for the more friendly format of the game continues to grow. What better place than the World Series Of Poker to gather momentum. Although it's not a bracelet event, the Dream Team tournament will take place at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino July 12-13 with a $560 buy-in per player, or $1,680 per team.

Dream Team Poker has found quick success with its events in Las Vegas. It hosted its inaugural event in November 2008 and followed that up with a successful event in March 2009. The first outing was an invitational event and the second was an open floor.

Jamie Gold led a team of professionals to victory in the Caesars Palace in a field of over 145 teams. This year’s event during the WSOP is set to eclipse the first two events by far.

In a solo game, the introduction of teams is a curious addition and one that was not met with much enthusiasm when it first saw the light of day. Opinions are slowly changing, thanks in part to Dream Team Poker and its patent-pending team-based tournament structure. Not only are participants playing for an individual prize, they're playing for points for their team to win.

As the events draws closer the marketing and publicity wagons are kicking into action with Daniel Delshad, Dream Team Poker CEO, getting emotional over the WSOP.
