APT Macau: Adrien Allain takes the title

Adrien Allain came through a starting field of 326 players to take home the APT Macau Main Event title and a career high HK$3,035,000 prize.

A record number of 326 players signed up for the APT Macau Main Event this year. In the end, it was Frenchman Adrien Allain who emerged as the champion, taking home close to $400,000 for his efforts.

A host of top pros turned up for this year's event. Among those whose tournament were cut short before the final day were 10 time WSOP bracelet winner Johnny Chan, John Juanda and 2009 November Niner David Akenhead.

Allain's biggest win to date

Allain who had just recently turned pro had to come through a final
table pool which not only included J.C. Tran and Aussie Millions winner
David Steicke, but also poker veteran Casey Kastle.This massive wins dwarfs his previous career high cash of $8,000.

He had come into the final day third in chips and had to overcome
the dominant chip stacks of Steicke and Inwook Choi to take the win. Steicke who had just taken down the High Rollers event a few days ago could only manage a fourth placed finish. Choi then knocked out J.C. Tran to setup the Heads-Up match.

In the end, Choi pushed all-in with A-Q and was called by Allain who had only A-3. With just 3 outs for the win, Allain spiked the 3 on the flop to leave Choi wishing what could have been.
