Isaac Haxton Beats Isildur1 in Pokerstars Superstar Showdown

The first heads-up match of the Pokerstars Superstar Showdown, where challengers take on the infamous Isildur1 in a 2,500 hand heads-up battle, has been won by Isaac 'philivey2694' Haxton.

The first PokerStars Superstar Showdown got off to a great start on Sunday, with Isaac Haxton beating Isildur1 for $41,000 in a heads-up battle that spanned 2,500 hands. Both players sat down with $150,000 and the event attracted a large rail including some high-stake pros.

They played across four tables at $50/$100 and whilst the match swung in Isildur1's favour for the first half, Haxton managed to regain some ground after a couple of failed plays by the mystery pro who promptly hiked up the aggression temperature to 'very steamy'.

It all went a bit downhill for the super-aggressive PokerStars pro from that point on.

When the dust had cleared and the 2,500 hands were up, Haxton stood victorious with a $41,000 profit and the title of the first champ of th Superstar Showdown.

Key hands

After 372 hands, Isildur was a cool $11,000 up. Not long after Haxton got it all in with and found himself dominated by Isildur1's , but much to Isildur1's dismay, an ugly board brought Haxton a rivered straight to bring things back to even keel.

Isildur1 won a $34,000 pot in hand number 1,250, turning a flush and taking the lead to the tune of $12,000. Things started to implode shortly after when Haxton beat him for a big pot holding a flush and then tabled aces when an Isildur1 bluff went wrong.

This is when the large 3-bets and full-pot continuation betting started form Isildur1. This hyper-aggressive play and a couple of coolers led to his eventual downfall.

On a three-club board of 9-7-5-A-6, Haxton put it all in the middle with for a flush and Isildur1 called the $8,800 all-in bet with his 9-8 straight. The pot was $26,000 and the beginning of the end for Isildur1.

At the final stages, a $44,000 pot saw both players holding nines-up and left Isildur with kicker problems on the river, there was no way back and Haxton emerged the clear victor.
