Canadian Players File Law Suit Against Full Tilt Poker

Full Tilt Poker has been dealt another body blow, with news of a fresh law suit emerging. The Consumer Law Group, led by lawyer Jeff Orenstein, has filed a class action law suit in Montreal, Canada on behalf of Canadian Full Tilt Poker players.

Despite the Black Friday upheavel, Canadian players continued to play on Full Tilt until it had its license suspended by the Alderney Gaming Control Commission on June 29. Since then, Canadians have been been unable to access their funds.

Orenstein estimates that Canadian poker players are waiting for the return of $10-$20 million, given that Candians make up roughly 10% of Full Tilt's player base, and the company was holding around $150 million in player funds at the time of the indictments.

The first person initiating the law suit is reported to only have $1-$5 in his account. This goes to show that the suit is not just about retrieving player funds, but a matter of principle. Players will not tolerate embezzlement full stop.

A judge in Quebec needs to approve the law suit before it can proceed. Orenstein has also pledged to go after the accounts of Canadian third party payment processor Terricorp Inc.

The law suit makes Full Tilt Poker's situation even more precarious as its September 19 date with the AGCC approaches.

WCOOP Updates; ElkY Comes Close

Day 5 of the PokerStars WCOOP saw the conclusion of three more events.

The $215 6-max PLO attracted a healthy field of 1,952, and it was "Donald" from Norway who clinched victory to the tune of  $61,488.

After acquiring a taste for 2-7 Draw events at this year's WSOP, ElkY chanced his luck in the $215 NL Single Draw 2-7. The former Starcraft sensation, currently based in London, finished a respectable 9th for $1,482. Online specialist Jon "PearlJammer" Turner finished 2nd for $11,700, but it was "Brryann" from Holland who topped the 390 strong field for a $16,380 pay day.

The biggest event of the day was the $320 NL Hold'em. n4kai from Poland outlasted a field of 2,295 to secure the $107,515 first prize.

"nanonoko" Is Back and Grinding

Half man, half robot Randy "nanonoko" Lew is back and playing. The endearing, multi-tabling machine released a 17 minute video of him playing a $1.50 Hyper Turbo on PokerStars to celebrate his return.

Lew, who recently appeared on the PokerStars Big Game, has followed in the footsteps of Phil Galfond and several other high stakes pros by hopping across the border to Vancouver, Canada. The Black Friday saga came as a major blow for Lew, who was having a house built in America.
