Rinat Bogdanov Wins the WPT Venice!
Russian Rinat Bogdanov has triumphed over a 155-player field over the span of 5 days to claim the title of WPT Venice champion. Find out how he defeated the final table, and check out a new Royal Flush Girls video.

155 players entered the WPT Venice on Monday, and after 5 days of play just 1 is still standing. Russian Rinat Bogdanov is that player, and for his accomplishment he'll take home €229,800 and a $25K seat in the WPT Bellagio. That's quite an improvement on the roughly $15,000 in lifetime tournament earnings he had won before this event.
What happened at the final table?
Short stacks leave early - Gianluca Trebbi and Andrea Carini entered the day with the fewest chips, and their tournaments were the first to end. Carini busted in 6th place, followed by Trebbi in 5th.
Ravnsbaek out in 4th - Danish Simon Ravnsbaek entered the final table 2nd in chips. During his time at the final table his chip stack fluctuated tremendously due to a wildly aggressive style of play. Perhaps it was too wild, however, as his opponents seemed to adapt to it. He gave his last chips away to eventual champion Rinat Bogdanov with pocket deuces against pocket tens, all-in preflop with no help from the board.
Andrea Dato out in 3rd - Andrea Dato's second WPT Venice final table was an improvement on his previous 4th place finish, but by just one spot. Dato started the day strong and entered three-handed play with the chip lead, but it was an unpleasant rollercoaster ride from that point on. After lots of play and tons of chips moving around, he unfortunately got his stack in while dominated (
vs. 
) and was eliminated by Bogdanov.
Heads-up over in two hands - Due to solid play and some lucky situations, Rinat Bogdanov entered heads-up play with a fairly significant lead over his opponent Alessandro Longobardi. Bogdanov won a small pot in the first hand, and finished off his opponent in the second hand of heads-up play.
Longobardi raised to 200,000 chips with 
, and Bogdanov called with 
. The flop came 
, and after a Bogdanov check, Longobardi bet just 60,000 chips which was met with a call.
The turn 
gave Bogdanov 2-pair, and he again check-called. This time the bet was 240,000. On the river 
, Bogdanov couldn't help but move all-in with his full house, and Longobardi called off the rest of his stack with top pair, ending the tournament.
