Olivier Busquet's $150k MMA prop bet
The heads-up specialist is set to fight next April against JC Alvarado.
Last month we brought you news that Olivier Busquet was looking to book an MMA fighting bet. Now he has his opponent.
He is set to fight fellow poker player JC Alvarado next April. If he wins he gets $150,000, if Alvarado wins, he gets $120,000.
Big news: @olivierbusquet and I have agreed to an MMA fight. My 150k to his 120k, he weighs in at 187.5, I weigh in at 165. #letsdothis

Busquet has a weight advantage, but Alvarado is a known MMA obsessive who has martial arts experience and has previously trained for an MMA fighting bet with Andrew Robl, which never went ahead due to an injury.
One player who has a unique insight into all of this is poker-pro-turned-MMA-fighter Terrence Chan, who shared his thoughts on the bout:
JC deserves to be fave based on experience; comes down to 1) Liv's natural athleticism; 2) how seriously he trains. https://t.co/QzYTMh5Mae

Chan also pointed out that given the sums of money at stake in this contest, ironically it would result in a bigger purse for the winner than the majority of contests in the UFC.
Earlier this year Douglas Polk and Doc Sands organised, and cancelled, a six-figure fighting bet. It is not uncommon for poker players to duke it out in the ring, check out some of poker's greatest fist fights.
