Aussie Millions Announces 2009 Schedule

The Aussie Millions organizers have announced that the 2009 event is scheduled to start on the 4th of January and end on the 26th of January. It will feature 18 tournaments with the Main Event set to run on January 18.

Aussie MillionsThe Aussie Millions, one of the largest poker events in the world, is set to start its 2009 season in approximately one month, on the 4th of January. It will feature 18 events that will be last a total of 23 days and the Main Event is set to start on the 18th of January, while the AUD$2 million guaranteed Final Table is scheduled for January 24.

The Final Table will be filmed and split into eight episodes by FSN and the television series will be broadcast to an international audience of over 100 million.

When asked about the event overall, Crown’s Chief Operating Officer for Gaming, Richard
Longhurst, said:

"If you’ve dreamed of becoming an Aussie Millions Champion, this is the
year to enter. With 18 opportunities to win, more events than ever before,
and FSN television coverage of the ‘Main Event’, the Aussie Millions
stage has never been brighter.
"


The 2008 AUD$10,500 Main Event attracted 780 participants and the prize pool was AUD$7.8 million, with 21-year-old Russian player Alexander Kostritsyn taking home the grand prize of AUD$1.65 million. Kostritsyn will return in the 2009 season to defend his title.
