Ben Lamb: Running Like a God

2011 has been a momentous year for Ben Lamb. Despite Phil Hellmuth's late surge at the WSOP Europe, he achieved WSOP Player of the Year (taking into account the 100 points guaranteed for reaching the November Nine).

Lamb was also a member of America's Caeser Cup team, after captain Phil Hellmuth's sentimental pick Doyle Brunson pulled out.

The 26-year-old former poker dealer, who heralds from the state of Oklahoma, has racked up over $2.3 million this year in live tournament winnings.

He set the wagon rolling with a 2nd place in the $3k PLO event, before going one better and clinching his first bracelet in the $10k PLO for $814,436. He then sealed 12th place in the $10k NLH 6-max event, before proving his pedigree by making the final table of the $50k 8-Game Players Championship and raking in $201,338 for his efforts.

Lamb admits that he is motivated primarily by the money "$8 million … I can really set myself up for life. I won't need to worry about money for the rest of my life. It's a big weight off someone's shoulders, and I'm only 26-years-old".

He attributes his 2011 WSOP success to his decision to remain teetotal, which has helped his concentration levels.

Ben Lamb is the most decorated player at the final table, and despite having roughly half the stack of chip leader Martin Staszko, is one of the firm favourites to secure the coveted title.
