Booth Comes Clean
Brad Booth vs. Doug “WCGRider” Polk has become the latest high stakes scandal to hit the community. The incident left a sour taste in the mouth of Polk and has all but tarnished the reputation of Booth.
Indeed, Booth was once one of the game’s most feared players. Known for his aggressive style, he made millions from high stakes games; he even managed to bluff Phil Ivey off a huge pot when he bought into High Stakes Poker for a cool million.
Undeterred by the recent loss of $30,000, Doug was in attendance at yesterday’s WSOP with his protégé Chae An (who had seen off Phil Ivey in a heads-up match earlier in the day).
In amongst talking about his own experience at the WSOP this year, Doug talks to PokerStrategy.com's Tobias Block about his encounter with Brad Booth.
Since the debt occurred Brad has been keeping a low profile but all that changed yesterday when he released a video to explain his recent actions.
Phil Ivey Secures First Cash of 2012 WSOP
Phil Ivey’s much-lauded return to the World Series of Poker has seemingly passed by without incident so far, but that all looks set to change now that the eight-time gold bracelet winner has locked up his first cash WSOP cash of 2012.
The former Full Tilt pro is among 120 players to make it through to Day 2 of the $1,500 No Limit Hold’em Shootout.
His safe passage through the tournament’s opening day has already ensured at least $5,295 will be winging its way to Ivey’s WSOP account.
Of course, for a man who boasts some $16 million in live tournament winnings, such an amount will come as little reward for an otherwise disappointing Series so far.
However, with $311,174 for the winner and the added allure of securing bracelet #9, Ivey should certainly be fired up for Day 2.

That’s Poker Baby! Scotty Nguyen Releases His Memoirs

If you’ve seen interviews with the “Prince of Poker”, Scotty Nguyen, you’ll be well aware that what he lacks in subtlety, he more than makes up for when telling a story.
It, therefore, should come as no surprise that the 1998 WSOP Main Event winner has committed some of his most entertaining memoirs to print in the first of a three-book series entitled: That’s Poker Baby!
The first volume is a mix of poker strategy, mental game coaching and anecdotes from Nguyen’s playing career, and while the quality of language could certainly be better, the verve with which it is written is unmistakable.
High Stakes Corner
“terryhsu” put in a brief but profitable day at the virtual felt yesterday, raking in $151,708 in just 393 hands.
His table-topping win put him just ahead of yesterday’s biggest winner “wilhasha” who added another $143,879 to his recent haul.
At the other end of the profit charts, Eunjong “jju” Byun had another rough day at the tables.
The South Korean player lost a further $154,706 over the course of 2,813 hands. “glosik” and Theo “Theo J” Jorgensen also had losing days, dropping $107,879 and $73,090 respectively.
