If there's one thing that's seen Doyle Brunson survive for over 40 years in the poker world, it's his resilience.
Having both faced down armed robbers back in his Texas road gambling days and endured more bad beats than he can remember, it certainly takes a lot to knock his spirit.
Indeed, even faced with news that he's developed cancer for the fourth time in his life, Doyle is still remarkably cheery. News of Doyle's illness came via his Twitter account last night:
"It was malignant. 4 times I have heard that in my life. Chilling way to start the day. Squamas cell cancer, nothing to worry about. #yeahright."
Having already beaten what the doctors described as "incurable" cancer back in 1962, Doyle seems confident this "slow forming" cancer won't be sending him to life's rail any time soon.

The World Poker Tour has just announced its 2013 schedule and the good news for the faithful is that it looks much the same previous years.
Having broken new ground this season with stops in South Africa and China, the WPT will be completing its eleventh incarnation by following a well-trodden path in 2013.
Starting in Atlantic City on January 27 with the Borgata Winter Poker Open, the WPT will move across to Florida before heading to Vienna for the first of its two European stops.
Once the PartyPoker WPT Vienna has been completed, it's back to the US for two more stops before another jaunt across to Europe where PartyPoker will play hosts once again, this time in Barcelona.
The WPT concludes with another stop in Florida before the Championship event inside the Bellagio, Las Vegas.

Dutch high roller
The Master Classics of Poker has been running since last Saturday but in the last 24 hours one of the festival's main attractions, the 10,000 High Roller, kicked off yesterday and attracted a host of well known players.
Amongst those battling it out for the 148,500 first place prize were Shannon Shorr, Govert Metal and PokerStrategist Marvin 'xcrash154' Rettenmaier.
After a few late entries the total field reached 40 players and after playing throughout the day and night the field broke with just eight players remaining.
With the MCOP 5,000 main event scheduled to start today the remaining players agreed to restart the final on Saturday. Currently leading the pack with 150,800 chips is Alexander "Sussie Smith" Roumeliotis.
High stakes corner

"patpatman", who many suspect is Tom Dwan, has enjoyed a profitable day at the virtual felt in the last 24 hours.
Possibly buoyed by the re-launch of Full Tilt, "patpatman" scooped over $200,000, which put him well ahead of the day's second biggest winner, Jens 'jenskyllonen' Kyllonen ($152,856).
One player who didn't have such an enjoyable time at the tables yesterday was Ilari Sahamies.
After racking up huge profits in the last two weeks, the Finn is on the slide, dropping over $150,000 in the last 24 hours.
