Victoria marries Mitchell

It's official, Victoria Coren is now Mrs. Mitchell. The PokerStars pro finally tied the knot with British comedian and actor David Mitchell, yesterday, having spent two years together as a couple. 

The pair first met in 2007 but didn't officially start dating until 2010. Since then David has been lurking in the shadows of numerous poker tournaments, preferring to stay out of limelight and rail Victoria from afar.

However, in the last 24 hours he stepped into the Holy light of St Peter's Church dressed in traditional wedding attire to marry the woman he loves.

Flanked by some of the UK’s most notable celebrities, David and Victoria said their vows amongst the grand surroundings of Belize Park, North London.

While we know Victoria as one of the fiercest females at the felt, David has a rather more adoring opinion on her, declaring:

"I think she's amazing. She's brilliant at what she does. For three years I thought about her all the time, and I still do but in a much happier way."

MicroMillions big winners

Thousands more players and bundles of cash have flowed across the virtual felts of PokerStars in the last 48 hours as the MicroMillions III continues to excite the masses.

After four days of heavy action, a total of 24 events have come to a conclusion (at the time of writing) and more than a handful of players have banked $10,000+ scores.

The biggest winner of the series so far is "R.I.PERRA" from Sweden. The micro grinder managed to overcome 21,737 players to take down Event 20 for $23,686.

Also making a huge return on their investment in the opening days of the series were: "Sladjan 68" $21,189, "Diogo37" $11,019, "DAS8686" $11,500 and "Polenda" $13,050.

So far a staggering 422,633 players have registered for the opening 24 tournaments, proving once again that the poker industry is as robust as ever.

Cada's new venture

After Black Friday came crashing down on the poker community a number of players found themselves sidelined and unable to ply their trade in the game they love.

Joe Cada was in a more fortunate position than most, though, and thanks to his WSOP Main Event winnings, the young American has used his time away from online poker to good effect.

In a recent blog post Joe talks about his latest life venture: Cada's Poker & Sports Grill.

Following his WSOP win, Joe admits that he "got burned out on poker a little bit" and "wanted to continue playing but needed a break".

Having worked in a bar before turning to poker it was a natural fit for Joe to open his open place. However, because he couldn't obtain a charity poker license if he bought a new venue, he purchased a place that already owned one.

A sign change and makeover later and he's now the proprietor of Michigan's only poker and sports bar where locals can test their skills against a world champion.

Bad times for Gus

A huge day at the virtual felt on Friday evening left one player smiling and one player reaching for the sick bucket.

"KPR16" was the online grinder enjoying a rush of positive variance over the course of 1,686 hands, banking $649,288.

The winning session was enough to put them ahead of "cottonseed1" who made an equally healthy profit of $413,026.

The man who felt the wrath of negative variance and was responsible for a number of player's experiencing a winning day was Gus Hansen.

The Dane saw $1,542,128 disappear from his bankroll during a marathon session which lasted 6,130 hands.
