The ride of their lives

In the wake of Phil Hellmuth taking down his 13th bracelet, a wave of tournament pros have embarked on the journey from Cannes to San Remo in search of more tournament success.

While many have decided to use the more conventional methods, such as a taxi or bus, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier and Eugene Katchalov have decided to use pedal power.

In a climax to their prop bet triathlon, the pair are cycling from the French Riviera to the Italian coastal town before settling down to challenge for another EPT title.

Before the pair set off they had just enough time to pose for some pictures before setting off on their 50+ mile ride.

Everest moves to iPoker

Everest Poker will be moving to the iPoker Network on October 16th according to an email to its affiliates.

Operating on its own network for a number of years, the poker room will now join one of the largest poker ecosystems in the industry. It's expected that the move will boost iPoker's recreational network by around 25%.

Liv on physics

With the sound of chips riffling in the distance at the EPT San Remo, the event's 2009 champion, Liv Boeree, has been discussing how physics has helped her get where she is today.

Being arguably the best poker-playing physicist in the world, Liv was asked by the Institute of Physics to describe the benefits of the subject.

While not all viewers of the video will be looking to become poker pros, Liv does an excellent job of verbalising how the analytical skills she developed during her degree have helped her become a better player.

Aside from helping to boost the credibility of physics, the video should help persuade the general public that poker is a game less about gambling and more about skill.

Poker dealer for president

Goossen for the White House

People in the poker world can often believe that prowess in the disciple naturally equals success in another no matter how unrelated.

On such person who has decided to transcend the game and test himself in a public sphere is professional poker dealer David Goossen.

Disillusioned by America's two main candidates, Goossen is putting himself forward for President. While many would expect his campaign to hinge on the legalisation of online poker in the US, there is, in fact, no reference to it in his main political rhetoric.

Instead he is claiming no party allegiance and aiming to garner 10,000 votes from those who are tired with the current regimes.

Who knows though, maybe if Goossen can find his way into congress, the poker industry might have its very own man on the inside.

High stakes corner

Ilari on top

Ilari "Ilari FIN" Sahamies and "patpatman" both went over the $300,000 profit mark yesterday.

The former banked a table-topping $340,217 in just 418 hands, while the latter hand to grind out 3,069 to earn his $332,375 profit.

Also making a rare appearance in the high stakes charts was "LewisFriend". The unknown grinder managed to make $262,890 over the course of 1,216 hands.
 
Two players who were on the end of negative variance yesterday were "Odd_Oddsen" and "Chung ho".

Neither player could generate any positive momentum at the virtual felt, with "Odd_Oddsen" losing $315,610 and "Chung ho" dropping $202,111.
