Negreanu’s Rant Returns

Daniel Negreanu’s latest rant has just been released after a brief hiatus during the WSOP. As expected Daniel dedicates a decent portion of his 20 minute discussion on PokerStars’ purchase of Full Tilt.

In Daniel’s words: “I’ve never been more proud to be associated with PokerStars.” He goes on to say: “If PokerStars hadn’t of stepped in then it seemed virtually impossible that anyone was ever going to get any money out of their accounts.”

Later in the vlog he goes on to describe the October Nine as “a little short on star power” and that he’s got “rainbows all around him” and is against the current vide of homophobia being presented by the Chick-fil-A controversy.

The rant is as candid as ever and certainly worth a watch.

Eyes on the WPT prize

The WPT’s Merit Cyprus Class kicked off over the weekend with a host of well known players in attendance.

Indeed, aside from taking the opportunity to bask in the Mediterranean sun, the 329 entrants were all in search of the $287,784 first place prize.

Amongst those heading into the Day 2 is PokerStrategist Marvin "xcrash154" Rettenmaier.

After finishing his first day with 122,200 chips, the German pro took some time to update his Facebook followers of his progress.

According to his post, a profitable cash game session was followed by a frustrating opening day on Saturday:

“I wasn't all happy since I didn’t trust my instincts/reads in 2 situations and I would have been right both times....but still bagged 122,200 chips...average is around 75,000... So all good... :)”

A day away from the felt on Sunday  has now left Marvin feeling refreshed ahead of today’s session:

“Dominik Nitsche is at my table - should be fun... really excited about this one... took today off after a big night out yesterday to be all relaxed for tmr... let’s do this!!!”

Banned From One Banned From All

An interesting addition to Full Tilt’s new terms and conditions could affect a large number of players looking to migrate back to the site.

According to an FAQ thread on 2+2, if a player is banned from either Full Tilt or PokerStars then this extends to both sites.

Lee Jones has been the man answering the questions and wrote: “Our systems will not allow barred or self-excluded players on one site to play on the other site. We will ensure that we have the technical solutions in place to preserve our game integrity and responsibility in responsible gaming. However, we will deal with exceptional situations on a case-by-case basis.”

While this may affect a number of players, it’s likely that PokerStars will use a fair amount of discretion when reviewing individual cases.

High Stakes Corner

The high stakes felts were alight with action over the weekend with “5tgb6yhn7” making almost $400,000 before finally logging off with a profit of $297,700.

Daniel “junglemandan” Cates was also in action and acooped $88,800.

Cates’ appearances online have been followed by the likes of Gus Hansen, Brain Townsend and Andres “Skjervoy” Torbergsen.

It seems with the WSOP out of the way the game’s toughest nosebleed players are slowly working their way back into the online scene.

Daniel Negreanu’s rants show that he’s prepared to go with his instincts no matter the consequences. Sometimes, however, those instincts end up costing him money.
