All new PokerStars

Some people love it, others don't. Whatever your opinion on PokerStars' software, the site has decided to revamp its desktop client.

Rather than tweaking their existing platform, the tech geeks behind the scenes have decided to build a brand new system from the ground up, Pokerfuse revealed.

"PokerStars 7" will be more efficient, less pop-up heavy and enable players to dive into games with a new "quick seat" function.

Plans for the new design were presented to a group of players and media at the recent VIP PokerStars event in London and one of the major areas the company was keen to show they were addressing was player access.

Table filters will now be integrated into the lobby, much like the interface users experienced at Full Tilt, and the way games are categorised is also set to change. A new grouping element, complete with mini table view, should eliminate the current "jumping" which occurs when scanning the lobby.

At the moment the new game client is still in the alpha testing phase, but it is expected to move into closed beta testing within the next few weeks.

No guarantee for ISPT

According to spokesman Prosper Masquelier (pictured right), the International Stadiums Poker Tour has never publically offered a guarantee.

While many people "wrongly" assumed that the organisers were offering a prizepool of at least $30 million, that fact was soon quashed when the figure was dropped to €20 million.

However, not even this figure is guaranteed, according to Masquelier. After being asked by Pokerlistings while on a break at the WSOPE, the Frenchman said: "Have you seen the word guarantee on the website? Never!"

He went on to say: "Basically, we have now estimated the prize pool, but we never said anywhere that there would be a guarantee. And honestly, considering what happened at the Partouche Poker Tour, I doubt Mr. Tapie will feel like offering any guarantee."

Despite there being no guarantee Masquelier was confident the event would be a success, stating that he expects 20,000 players to attend and that a telecom company has "guaranteed the Internet will work 100%".

Given their typical use of the word 'guarantee', we wouldn't take that as gospel.

High stakes corner

"patpatman" returned to winning ways yesterday after banking $219,356 over the course of 3,759 hands.

His winning session put him over $100,000 clear of the day's second biggest winner: Alexander "Kanu7" Millar. The British grinder added $103,090 to their bankroll after 1,153 hands.

Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky (pictured left) hasn't started October like he finished September, as he dropped $362,618 yesterday.

The American had been on a run of positive results at the end of last month, but this month he seems to have hit a bump in the road.

Also losing money yesterday was Joe "JoeIngram1" Ingram (-$74,821) and "1Il|1Il|1il|" (-$69,209).

PokerStars lose Mattern

He's been one of France's most consistent winners over the last few years, as well as a prominent ambassador for PokerStars. However, after three years with the company, Arnaud Mattern has decided to move on to new things.

A recent tweet confirmed the news, with Mattern indicating the split was mutual and that he was thankful for his time with the company.
