Lewis in contention

He may have finished the day with fewer chips than he started with, but the UK's Toby Lewis made it through to his first major WPT final table yesterday.

With 1,125,000 chips, the Brit will start today's session as the short stack; however, with 22 big blinds he still has the ability to cause some damage to those around him.

Closing the day as the chip leader, after Garrett Greer busted in seventh place, was Paul Volpe.

The American pro bagged 4,195,000 chips to finish ahead of the finale's other Paul (Klann) who accumulated 3,375,000.

Today's race for the $1,004,090 begins at 16:00 PST and will be streamed live via the WPT's website.

PokerStars' latest makeover

PokerStars is taking a few more steps towards its complete software overhaul this week with the release of some interesting updates.

One of the most striking changes that will occur in the next few days will be the organisation of tables.

In an effort to streamline their look and make games more accessible, PokerStars will be implementing "group" and "combo" listings.

The former arranges games into similar formats and offers a quick-seat option, while the latter is a mix between the grouping system and PokerStars' traditional column format.

The other interesting upgrade will be the introduction of Progressive Bounty and Zoom tournaments (which will first appear on March 14).

The latter will utilise the site's fast-poker technology, while Progressive Bounty tournaments will pay ever-increasing bounties as the game progresses.

Negreanu's recruits

Daniel Negreanu has finalised his team for his heads-up shootout against Gus Hansen's posse.

Daniel received a slew of suggestion from his followers and, after pondering his choices, he chose Isaac Haxton and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier for the $50,000 (per player) match.

After hearing about the Daniel's challenge, Olivier Busquet decided to add another level of interest by issuing a follow-up contest:

"Hey @RealKidPoker any chance I could pick a team to play the winner, give some HU SNG regs a shot at glory? We might even give u odds...."

A potentially interesting series of events could now unfold if more pros decide to assemble a team and join the challenge bandwagon.
