Prizepool beaten at UKIPT Cork

Fintan finished top

A jovial field of 244 players pushed UKIPT Cork's overall total to a respectable 387 runners, yesterday.

While that figure is down on last season's total of 602, such a drop was expected because of the increased entry fee from €560 to €770.

Despite the smaller field, PokerStars' tradition of breaking their guarantees was upheld with the €250,000 bounty being exceeded by €12,773.

In a day of action that saw the likes of Jake Cody hit the rail and Liv Boeree scrape through, Fintan Gavin topped the chip counts with a stack of 107,000.

Day 2's action kicked off earlier today with 158 players still in contention for the €60,440 top prize.

Loeser misses out on GSOP finale

Manig out in 16th

After fighting for three days, Manig 'swordfish007' Loeser hit the rail just a few places short of today's GSOP Vienna final table.

Having outlasted more than 285 players, Loeser's demise came at the hands of Karel Kratochvil.

After previously losing a 200,000 chip pot, Loeser called Kratochvil's 5-bet shove with pocket jacks.

Unfortunately, Kratochvil held pocket queens and as the board ran out , Loeser got up from his seat to collect €3,180.

With Loeser watching from the rails, lone American Robert Gorodetsky emerged as the chip leader amongst a sea of Europeans.

Gorodetsky bagged up 1,307,000 chips and started today's final table almost 250,000 ahead of Jouni Kallio.

GPI suspends alleged cheaters

The Global Poker Index has done its bit to help maintain the integrity of the game by suspending the two suspected Partouche cheaters from his ranking system.

Although the incident occurred back in 2009 before the GPI came into effect, recent video evidence has prompted them to remove Jean-Paul Pasqualini (pictured right) and Cedric Rossi from their leaderboard.
 
After consulting with some of the game's most respected players, the GPI has decided support "fairness at the table" by excluding the suspected cheaters.

High stakes corner

Tony G is no stranger to playing in private cash games in the last 24 hours it seems he's found another willing customer in the form of King's Casino owner, Leon Tsoukernik.

Tony first announced his involvement in the game on twitter, writing: "Playing 2k/4k PLO at Kings Poker Room."

Further reports then surfaced that Tony and Leon had upped the antes twice: first to €3k/€6k and then to €5k/€10k.

As yet there's been little indication as to whether or not Tony is winning, but at one point there was more than €2 million on the table. 

Tony's latest game is just another in a long line of nosebleed encounters.

Indeed, back in November he talked exclusively with 'tobiasfrey' about winning $3,150,000 in a single hand.
